Confluence is the company's written method. Runbooks, onboarding guides, architecture decisions, postmortems and the meeting notes that led to them sit in spaces organised by team, often with years of page history showing how a process changed and why.
That maps closely onto what buyers ask for. micro1 wants internal docs, SOPs and playbooks, knowledge bases and templates. Mercor lists Confluence by name. SimpleClosure says docs are in scope when it sells a closed startup's archive. This page covers which spaces buyers value, what to leave out, and what to settle before an export.

What buyers value
What in Confluence buyers value
The column on the right is not legal advice: it lists what to raise with the buyer before anything is exported.
| Data | Why a buyer values it | Raise with the buyer |
|---|---|---|
| Runbooks and SOPs | Step-by-step procedures your team actually follows. | Nothing specific |
| Postmortems and incident reviews | What failed, why, and what changed afterwards. | Nothing specific |
| Architecture and decision records | Options weighed and the reasons one was chosen. | Nothing specific |
| Page history and comments | How a document improved under review, draft by draft. | Nothing specific |
| HR and people spaces | Policies and onboarding. | Whether these are excluded; they often name individuals. |

FAQ
Confluence data: questions, answered
Usually. Documents name fewer outside people than Slack or email, and micro1 lists docs and knowledge bases first among what it wants. Expect fewer personal-data questions.2
It depends on the license. Polyshares licenses are exclusive by default for a defined term, Troveo's exclusivity is time-limited, and Endless offers a non-exclusive licence; Return My Time says delivered outputs may be licensed permanently. micro1 says the company keeps ownership. Ask any buyer for the term in writing.17,18,19,20,13
